Identity Theft and Cavalry Portfoolio Services, LLC
My identity was stolen in 2002 by some bozo in Missouri. He bought a Gateway Computer and a Sprint phone. I dealt with Citibank on the resolution of the Dell Computer. They had my credit score cleared within 7 days of the dispute. I am still dealing with the Sprint charges which was taken over by Cavalry Portfolio Services. These guys suck. I provided them proof that the purchases were not mine. They sent me a return letter confirming the fact that they agree with my dispute. It's been 4 months since I received that letter and my credit score is still in the shitter from Experion. I just got off the phone with the rudest guy I've ever talked to. Supposedly, they are going to resend the letters to all 3 companies today. I have asked for a faxed copy of that letter. We'll see. When a company wrongfully hits your credit record, they should be obligated to:
a) fix it.
b) show you proof that they fixed it.
The guy on the phone said that he could pull my credit score but that it would lower it since it was an inquiry from a colleciton agency. If that is true, those rules are terrible. Credit Score inquiries should not lower your credit score.....there needs to be a type of inquiry that has a status of 'maintenance' or something to that effect. Basically an informational query that does not affect your score.
So, I have to continually pay for $15 credit scores until this is resolved.
